My name is Kelly Haight and I am a sophomore at the University of Akron’s College of Nursing.  Like many starting on their nursing path, I knew I wanted to serve and grow in leadership, but wasn’t sure what my path was supposed to be.  Thankfully, I decided to attend the annual convention for the ONSA and since that day my nursing journey has truly changed.  Being elected as the Membership Director for the Northeast region of Ohio was a huge honor for me!  I have already met new friends and now have an avenue to network with fellow students from all across the state.  I am excited to serve on the ONSA board.  My hope for this year is to increase awareness of the ONSA and our national organization the NSNA.  I believe if more students see the benefits and opportunities for growth that will arise from being involved, membership will increase. I believe that being involved in organizations is just as important to our nursing journey as attending class and studying for tests.  I hope to send a positive message to my four children and to those who are unsure of what they are capable of doing.  When you have a passion for something most anything is possible.  I look forward to the year ahead and hope to see many of you at the ONSA board meetings or one of the conventions coming up.  I know that your journey can be transformed as well, if you take that first step and CATCH the WAVE with me.
