Ohio Nursing Students' Association
Community Health Project
2012
Join us on team Be The Match!
We have
adopted a Be The Match drive throughout Ohio as the statewide community health
project for the 2011-2012 academic school year. As we work to implement this
project throughout Ohio, we would like for you to join our team! Please see the
contact information below for additional information on this project.
What is 'Be The Match'?
Be The Match is a national marrow donor program that provides hope and
support to the patients and their families in need of life-saving transplants.
As a community, we have the power to save the lives of many, simply by joining
the registry! For more information on Be The Match go to: http://marrow.org/Home.aspx

Issues:Finding a match for an individual in need of bone marrow is extremely difficult. On average, the chance of finding the perfect match is approximately 1 out of every million. Many individuals are in need of bone marrow to save their life.
Purpose: By expanding the registry, the chances of finding a match for an individual in need of bone marrow increases. As students, we have the ability to make a difference simply by joining the registry.
Goal:The goal of this statewide community health project is to expand the bone marrow donor registry of Be The Match in hopes of saving more lives by implementing Be The Match drives throughout schools in the state of Ohio.
Process:To start a drive at your school, you must follow these 3 simple steps:
*Be The Match asks that students donate around $10-$15 per testing to cover the fees for typing . For additional information, visit: http://marrow.org/Home.aspx |
The Contest
ONSA would like to recognize the SNA local chapter that does an outstanding job at helping out with this year’s Community Health Project. The chapter will be recognized at the ONSA Annual Convention in October 2012, and win free entry to our convention for a certain amount of students at their school. The deadline for submissions for the Community Health Award will be posted shortly. Click this link for contest form.
